The annual Ernie Davis Classic was held once again at UE’s Ty Cobb stadium in Endicott, N.Y. The classic is a kind of “all star” game for Section IV senior standouts from all of the teams in the section. The two teams are divided up based on rough geographic locations of the schools that make up the “East” and “West”. The East team pretty much owns this game year after year. Coincidentally enough, most of the bigger powerhouse schools are represented on the “East” squad. It is what it is …
This years edition of the classic once again went to the East as they won it in the end 21-6 thanks in part to several turnovers that were gifted to them from the West. All of the scoring was done in the first half. Had the West team been a little less generous turning the ball over at the outset this could have potentially been a closer game. Win, lose or draw though the game is really meant to be more of a fun, last hurrah, celebration of some of the best senior players from around the area – and it is played as such too.
More photo’s from the game are now available at the galleries. Enjoy!
