About

Hey there….

My wife Roxie & I out near Ithaca - August 2011. Photo by: Jeff Lower - http://jefflowervideo.com

My name is Jim and I am a part time, freelance photographer who is based out of Berkshire, N.Y.  I will typically shoot just about anything within a 50-60 mile radius of the greater Binghamton, NY area.  If I had to declare a specialty in my shooting style – I guess it would be event, and/or sports shooting.  I have been told, and have been hired as a result, that I have a journalistic style as well.  I don’t want to say that I “specialize” in anything in particular – I try to be flexible.

I’m a welder by trade – I learned in high school and then worked professionally at a couple of local sheet metal shops for a few years.  I earned a couple of military certifications for T.I.G. welding while I was doing this.  I was a U.S. Navy Photographers Mate while serving in the Navy circa 1984-1987.  I was stationed aboard the U.S.S. Midway CV-41 which is long since retired from active duty and is currently in San Diego harbor as a museum.  I am presently, and have been for the last 20 years or so, a computer networking admin / help desk support technician.  Not only can I get some good photo’s of you and/or your event – I can fix your computers too.  Give me a call or shoot me an e-mail and we can discuss.

That’s a very brief synopsis – the readers digest version.  I’ve never been one for tooting my own horn – never been comfortable being a “braggart”.  If you like my work that’s great, and I do appreciate the many kind things and comments that people have left me.  I’m not gonna get on stage here though and tell you I’m the greatest thing since film was invented.  I’m not – but I’m striving all the time to do better work, and lately sales would seem to indicate that I’m having some success with that.  I really and honestly do appreciate that folks!
